Working 9 to 5

... or 7:30 to 3:30. I returned to work this week, and wow, was it a long five days! I returned to school for an all day field trip with the AM & PM classes to Boonshoft. Tuesday my sub and I were both in the room as a transition for the students. Wednesday I was in an all day meeting for our new K-1 building. Thursday I was out of my room doing reading assessments on all of my kindergartners. Finally, on Friday, we had a semi-normal day... that is, if you ignore the growing pile of boxes in the corner of our classroom, as I pack EVERYTHING to be moved to the new school. I can't complain too much, because we only have two more weeks until summer vacation, although it feels like a marathon, can it all be done?
My return to work also meant Alexander's return to Miss Tara's, and Kellan's first experience there. I forgot how much stuff it takes to get a little one to the sitter. All of Alexander's things were still at Tara's, but Sunday, after every one's baths, we packed all of the things Kellan would need into the wagon, and off we went to drop it off for the next day. It had to be quite a sight as we hauled it up the street, looking like we were giving our children away....

Please excuse the bizarre spacing... I can't figure out what I've done!!

It didn't rain on our parade...but it sure was chilly

This weekend is Miamisburg's Spring Fling, starting with a parade on Saturday morning. We decided to walk down to the parade route to let Alex enjoy his first parade. He wasn't sure what to think, but watched the entire parade very intently. His favorite thing wasn't the trucks, the clowns, or the motorcycles, but the bu-oon (balloons) that were tied to some of the floats. At the end of the parade, he threw his arms up in the air and shouted "YAH!" Whether that meant yah, that was fun, or yah, thank goodness its over, we don't know!

Not sure what to think
A piece of gum thrown from a float (which mommy enjoyed)

Still not so sure about this parade thing

Hat hair!

And what did Kellan think...
I don't think he was impressed!

The Outdoorsman

My last post sparked a comment to Daniel by a co-worker. He thought that the pictures of Kellan on his Boppy pillow looked like he was in a raft. Later that day, I got an e-mail from Daniel at work with this picture attached. Daddy did a little photo editing, and I think that the result is quite comical. Who knew Kellan would take his first white water rafting trip at 7 weeks!

I will post some new pictures soon. We've had a busy week!

Growing Like a Weed

Its hard to believe that Kellan is already 7 weeks old, and in one short week, I will be going back to work. He hardly resembles the swollen, bruised baby that we initially met in the hospital.

These days he is sleeping though the night (8-10 hours), much to our relief. He is very alert and loves to be held upright so that he can see the world. Best of all, he is full of smiles, which melts our hearts.

Some big smiles from this morning

Enjoying some tummy time... and as soon as the camera was off, he rolled over!

We lovingly call this his 'male pattern baldness' stage. As you can see there is very little left on top!

Daddy's Helper

Now that the weather has been nice, Daniel has been busy trying to get our lawn into shape. We've spent the past year with what has had to be the worst looking grass on the block. I believe that so far the lawn has been dethatched, aerated, seeded, and fertilized. Apparently getting rid of the weeds is next. This weekend, Alex helped Daddy pull some weeds out of the yard (I thought that was why there was a bag of weed and feed by our shed!?!) I wonder if they realize that once the weeds are gone there may be nothing left but dirt! ...yeah, its that bad.

The Big Brother

The most asked questions that we have gotten have been 'How is Alexander adjusting?' and 'Does Alexander like having a baby brother?' The answers are simple: He is adjusting great and absolutely LOVES Kellan! In fact the only problem seems to be loving a little too much and too rough. Here are a few photos of the two boys together... you can see that Alexander is full of kisses for 'his baby.'
