three (plus seven) on thursday

  1. The Bugman is recovering from another ear infection. Last Thursday, after another two week bout of green and yellow nastiness colorful nasal discharge, I decided to take Bitty Bug into the pediatrician's office to have him checked out. Bugman had the same cold, but seemed to be somewhat on the mend, other than a juicy productive cough. As to not return to the office a few days later, I went ahead and made them both appointments. As it turned out, Bitty has a virus (or so they say) but Bugman had an ear infection.

  2. Bitty's nose is still gross a very sad sight a week later. Dr. Cata recommended we bring him back in two weeks if he was not better, so we may have one more week of suffering and 10 boxes of Kleenex to go.

  3. Daddy went on his first 'business trip' this week. He was in Fort Wayne, Indiana Wednesday and Thursday with some colleagues doing something medical and

    engineering related.

  4. Due to Mommy's fear of the dark, monsters, and serial killers loneliness, Aunt Ashy, Lucy, and Maggie played in the living room all night spent the night.

  5. Tomorrow is Pajama day at school. Would it be wrong to wear the pajamas I slept in the night before? That sure would make it easy to get ready in the morning!

  6. We're having a CKV reunion tomorrow after school at Elsa's. It should be interesting to see a bunch of teachers in a restaurant, in pajamas and slippers…

  7. I just discovered how to cross out words when typing. Its rather addicting and obnoxious satisfying, much like a fist full of coupons and a grande white chocolate mocha from Starbucks on the way to the grocery on Saturday morning.

  8. Did I mention my new found addiction
dependence love to Starbucks? Before babies, parents used to give me gift cards to Starbucks as Christmas gifts and I would generously pass them on to another teacher. After babies I find myself singing blissful coffee tunes about heaven in a cup as I approach the drive thru. The man who invented the coffee drive thru – a genius. Oh, the kicker, they even have organic 'chocate' milk, for Bugmen.

  9. Pending school tomorrow, this will be the first 5 day week I have taught since around October. Between holidays, meetings, sick kids, and snow days, I have been out of my room at least ½ day EVERY WEEK. A little obnoxious, if I do say so myself. I'm thinking maybe we'll have a two hour delay tomorrow, because seriously, why stop a good thing.

  10. For anyone who hasn't heard… Bitty is a runner. Yep, a runner. He started taking steps about 6 weeks ago, started walking a month ago, is now out of control fast. Video to come…

two and a half

Its hard to believe that The Bugman could be 2 1/2 already. He was just a baby yesterday, its seems. I remember being pregnant with Bitty, and thinking that he was still such a baby, and wondering what we were going to do with two babies. Overnight, it seemed, Bugman turned into an official toddler (the day Bitty was born, to be exact). In a few short months he'll be labeled as a 'preschooler,' although I don't think he'll be going to preschool for another year. He still loves books, and reads to Bitty, and to himself, and occasionally he will read to mommy or daddy. He is learning to share, and as you can see below he was very sharing with Bitty as he filled the crib with books.
The Bugman is beginning to learn to use the potty (kind of), and asked to sleep in underpants before he went to bed tonight after making 'pee pee water' in the potty. He chose some big boy underpants with stars, and daddy convinced him to wear Diego (pull-ups) underpants for night night, as we know he would wet the bed.
Pretend play is huge these days. Its hysterical to listen in on some of the conversations Bugman's puppets, animals, and cars have. A typical conversation goes a little like this:
"Hi Dog!"
"Hi Duck!"
"Wanna play?"
"Yes, lets go park."
"What doin' Duck?"
"I slide!"

"more"

Most of you know that when Bugman was little, he took his good ol' time learning to talk. We did (and still do) a lot of signing with him, some formal ASL (American Sign Language), and a few things that just worked for us. We been signing to Bitty Bug for a few months now, and have thought, a few different times, that he may have signed 'more,' as in 'more eat' or 'mommy I may not be big, but I sure can eat!' Tonight at dinner we were 100% sure that he was signing more, so I grabbed the camera to catch the action. Of course, I put the camera up to my eye and Bitty stared at me like I was an alien, so I tried to peak around and encourage him to sign 'more.' He was pretty sure we were playing peek-a-boo and that it was rather hysterical. SO, while I have no baby signs, I do have a little clapping and some huge grins!

How could you not love that smile?!?! ... and the blobs of food on his face :)

its so hard being two and a half!

Last Tuesday we were blessed with a snow day! Which, was just what the doctor ordered. In honor of his half birthday, Bugman decided that perhaps afternoon naps were no longer for him. Over the weekend he had taken a few quick naps in the car and a total of one, half hour nap at home. Needless to say, he was quite the grump come Monday morning.
On our blessed snow day, Bitty layed down after lunch, and as Bugman played with his cars and trucks and read a few books, I ran downstairs to start a new load of laundry. When I came back up, this is what I found...

Bugman and the nap had a fight, and the nap won! I thought about moving him to his bed, but feared he might wake up. He dozed this way for over an hour and a half.

mmmm, mmmm, good

Pancakes have become somewhat of a Saturday ritual at our house. Actually, "pahpahks and sausage," in Bugman terms. Last week, we happened to have some buttermilk leftover, so we made homemade buttermilk pancakes. They were not as wonderful as they sound, and Bugman wasn't too impressed. He got bored fairly quickly of his dip (syrup), and decided to try some butter. If you think butter on pancakes is tasty, you should try it on its own... mmm, mmm, good!

Oh, as I was reading through some old posts I was quite embarassed by my spelling. I considered going back and editing, but decided to leave them the way they are as a memory of my 'mommy brain!'
