A couple of months ago we found the cutest Nike Shox at Kids Foot Locker. Unfortunately, a few weeks later we realized that they weren't velcroing (not sure that's a real word) as well. Now, this was not due to some manufacturing defect, but was caused by the immense size of this child's foot. Alexander is by no means a large child, in fact I'm not sure that we have ever met someone his age that was smaller than him. I don't even think that his foot length is larger than average. However, we were forced to do some Internet shopping to find some decent looking shoes that came in his size. Luckily, New Balance carries this special sizing. Have you figured it out yet? Take a close look at these new shoes...

See that big red tag? It screams "I'm a child with a big ol' fat foot." Wide width, to be PC.

'In John Deere Green'

I'm going to guess that you are all thinking the same thing. 'Why on earth do we care about what movies Leanne has or has not seen?' I plead guilty to once again avoiding housework....

Back to the good stuff today. Alexander was sporting his John Deere t-shirt last week for play group, and we busted out the matching hat. He was pretty sure that he was the coolest kid on the block, but Kellan was out to give him a run for his money.

'Where's my JD shirt?'

Check back soon for Kellan's newest 'trick.'

the 'saucy saucer'

Over the past several weeks Kellan has become much stronger in his upper body, as well as controlling his arms and hands. We broke out the good ol' 'saucy saucer' (AKA the exersaucer) for him to play in. Needless to say, the child loves it. He has been manipulating the toys that are attached, attempting to mimic his big brother who plays with the toys with him, and can spin himself around in the little seat. He's becoming such a big boy already (sniff sniff).

On another note, or house is running out of space for all of the boys big toys. I forgot how much space all of the infant apparatus takes up! Walk into our house, or peak into any window, and there is no doubt little ones live here, and of course, we wouldn't have it any other way.

'big water'

The boys took their first trip to the 'real' pool last Friday evening. The middle school teachers had a staff party at the G-town pool, and we were invited to come along. Our trip started on a bad note, as we stopped in to see Pappaw before heading downtown. Alexander played outside with Pappaw for awhile, and then we came in to leave. The bug man found a frog knick-knack on the fireplace, which was only about 6 inches long, but had to be may out of lead, because the sucker weighed about 10 pounds. Well, of course I said the motherly 'You're going to drop that on your toe and its going to hurt.' Not two seconds after I uttered those words (as I'm thinking 'I sound like my mom... I'm turning into my mother') he dropped that darn frog right on his big toe. There was quite a bit of screaming, discussion of whether he could have broken his toe, and then as quickly as it happened, it was over and Alexander ran over to pick that thing up again. This time, mommy put the frog out of reach. Luckily we were only left with a black and blue toe.

Off to the pool we went. Alexander had a great time in the baby pool...

...until he saw the 'big water,' AKA the big pool. I could see him dreaming of the day he could jump off the diving board.

We dipped our toes in the 'big water,' and then mommy and Alex got in. Photos of this will not be posted, as this was the first bathing suit experience for mommy since BEFORE Alex was born... not pretty.

Oh, and a little photo lesson from me to you... make sure the camera strap is out of the way before snapping and photos.

is this a slide or what???

Yesterday I mentioned that during our trip to the park, Alexander was playing in the skatepark. I caught a little video of him trying to figure out if the cement ramps were really slides or not.

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

Morning at our house usually starts somewhere between 7:00 and 8:00... at least for some of us. For others, the morning doesn't begin until a little later. Today, a little later was close to 10:00, but I'm not going to mention any names...

Alexander and I decided it would be a good morning to head to the park after breakfast, before the rain. We would usually walk to the park, but with the sky looking dark, I thought it would be a better idea to drive, which caused some confusion to a little man who just wanted to play at the 'pok,' not ride in the 'coh.'
We had fun climbing up the slides, going back down, swinging, riding on the seahorse and duck rocking things, and even checking out the skate park. Alexander thought that the slope things (which I'm sure have a name) at the skate park were slides, which was quite comical.
He even stopped to smell the 'dandelions,' and picked one for mommy. Remember those little ones that play ragball. You know the one. That cute little guy in the outfield too busy picking grass and dandelions to notice that there is a game going on? I think we've got a future Mr. Outfield on our hands!

a whale of a time

OK, cheesy blog title, I know. Alexander has a whale shaped pool this summer, that even shoots water out of his blow hole (thank you Target sale aisle). I would say that he loves to play IN the pool, but he loves to stand on the side and let the water out, and fill up buckets to 'water' the flowers, and pour down the slide.

Today 'Ashy' came over to play in the pool too, which turned into a fun game of 'poke.' For any of you that have not played 'poke' it entails lifting the other person's shirt to show their belly (no shirt lifting needed if wearing a bikini) and then poking them in the belly button while yelling 'POKE.' Apparently its all the rage in the almost two year old group. I would love to show you some pictures of this, but I think I would be in big trouble from my bikini sporting sister, so instead, I'll show you Alex and his 'fauxhawk.'
